Warning! Before travelling to London, there are a couple of points which I feel obliged to bring to your attention Warning! You may come across other sites on the World Wide Web offering tours by taxi. You should ensure that the drivers are London Tourist Board (LTB) Registered Guides, and holders of the Blue Badge. To confirm this, you should ask for their LTB Registration Number. My number is 00635. Non-LTB Guides are not permitted to escort you inside many of the buildings (museums, stately homes, etc.) that may be of interest to you. If they try to do so, you will have to pay for their entry fee as well as your own, and it is likely that the whole party will be asked to leave the premises. Official Blue Badge Guides are allowed free entry to most places of interest and clients pay only for themselves. Secondly, on arrival at Heathrow Airport a party of two or more people will find it cost effective to take a taxi from the airport to London’s West End (Downtown). The heavily publicised train service, the Heathrow Express (HEX), costs £12 (c.$20) per person to Paddington. From there you will need to add a taxi fare to take you to your hotel. Whereas, the approximate taxi fare for 4 people (all journeys in London are at the fare registered on the meter) from Heathrow to any requested destination in the West End is £40. These pieces of advice are merely my personal opinion. Whatever services you decide to engage, I hope you have a pleasant stay in London.
